Partners

Gary McErlean

Gary McErlean

Gary is a member of both Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Chartered Institute of Tax, and also received a First Class Honours degree in Accounting. Gary is also on the Members in Practice Committee with Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Gary joined Quarter in 2000 and rapidly excelled to become partner. Through his organisational and leadership qualities, Gary has helped the firm significantly develop its market presence, and the wide variety of professional offerings available.

Gary's areas of expertise cover various services as follows:

  • As a Chartered Tax Advisor, Gary provides general tax advice, in addition to developing bespoke tax planning solutions tailored to suit specific requirements.
  • Business structuring and strategic direction advice following detailed operational, taxation and financial reviews.
  • Business plans including projections and forecasts.
  • Audits.
  • Accounts.

Outside the office Gary is a keen sports enthusiast, completing several marathons, both at home and abroad, whilst most recently successfully enduring a half iron man. Gary is also involved in many charitable causes.


Ciarán McCavana

Ciarán McCavana

Ciarán is a qualified FCCA Chartered Accountant. He has built up an extensive knowledge base in various areas, including;

  • Forensic Accounting (Chartered Accountants Ireland Diploma in Forensic Accounting)
  • Debt Restructuring
  • Accounts
  • Audits (Internal and External)
  • Not for Profit Organisations
  • Business Plans

As the longest serving employee of Quarter prior to becoming a partner, Ciarán’s progression since 1998 within the accountancy field has mirrored that of the growth of Quarter.

Ciarán has specialised in Forensic Accounting, providing Forensic Reports and acting as an expert witness for numerous clients. He has been involved in some of the largest High Court cases to be carried out within the country.

Outside of work Ciarán is married with two children and is an avid Sports and Irish Language enthusiast. He played both Football and Hurling for his club, Naomh Éanna CLG, of which he is currently Chairperson. On finishing his Senior Football career he played a few seasons of Rugby with his local club Ophir. He currently takes part in Triathlons.


Damian McNicholl

Damian holds a degree in Economics from Queens University Belfast. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994, he worked for BJ McAllister & Co. and Burns Hunt DFK before joining Quarter in 2001. He has a wide range of experience in accounting and auditing issues including specialist areas involving solicitors, clubs, travel agents and charities.

He has also worked in the area of forensic accounting for 15 years and has experience in the following areas:

  • Personal and Criminal injury cases
  • Fraud investigations
  • Consequential loss
  • Business Valuation
  • Loss of profits
